This is a full-time, in the office, position focused on estimating for commercial construction projects in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC areas. Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques for various HVAC engineered systems
- Ability to analyze specifications, plans, and create material take-offs from drawings, while considering project costs and site requirements
- Experience using QuoteSoft estimating software
- Ability to estimate various types of HVAC projects/contracts and coordinate group efforts
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work independently
- Proven ability to “fill-in” missing information for a complete take-off
- Strong time management skills required to meet bid timelines
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Equivalent technical training and experience required
- Preferably a minimum of 5 years of estimating commercial Mechanical/HVAC systems
Key Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive budgets, pre-construction proposals, hard bids, negotiated bids, and design-build proposals
- Review specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, and determine scopes of work for various budgets, proposals, and bids
- Collaborate with the Design-Build / Pre-construction Manager on design-build and negotiated projects
- Prepare estimates by performing detailed takeoffs of Mechanical scopes of work
- Coordinate the estimating effort for assigned bids/projects, working closely with the Bid Team
- Maintain accurate documentation and backup files for estimates
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships
- Utilize on-screen takeoff (OST) software effectively
- Interface with Bid Team to provide cost data and feasibility analysis
- Assist with subcontractor and vendor outreach for proposals
- Support the Chief Estimator in maintaining and growing relationships with subcontractors and vendors
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management
